In a Role-playing game (RPG), players craft fictional characters to “play” in a story that is based on their choices and interactions with one another and the game-world. Players inhabit a character within a story by describing their character’s actions and responses as they interact in the world we present.
The Role-playing game systems we use vary depending on the identified goals and objectives (academic, social, etc.). Typically RPG’s involve a structure for generating and progressing characters through a narrated story, as well as a set of rules that allow for resolution of tasks and conflicts within the game.
This interactive, immersive dynamic inspires a deep level of engagement, resulting in a unique educational experience where fun is the focus and learning naturally ensues.
